GMA-7's Afternoon Prime block dominates television ratings following the record-breaking success of its drama programs Pahiram ng Isang Ina, Ikaw Lang Ang Mamahalin and Kung Aagawin Mo Ang Langit.
GMA Entertainment TV's afternoon dramas reign supreme in the hearts of the televiewers, consistently remaining ahead of competition not only in viewer rich Urban Luzon and Mega Manila but also across National Urban Philippines, according to the more widely recognized ratings service provider Nielsen TV Audience Measurement.
The family drama series, Pahiram ng Isang Ina, topbilled by Carmina Villarroel, Maxene Magalona, Tweens Bea Binene and Jake Vargas, offers more than just a tearjerker with a poignant tale that depicts how riches cannot make up for the lack of things that really matter such as family, love and trust. With unforgettable characters from beginning to end, Pahiram ng Isang Ina clearly edged out its competition and gained ratings stronghold in its timeslot.
Based on household data in National Urban Philippines covering the period October 10 to October 14, 2011 (based on overnight data), the program registered 45 share points versus ABS-CBN's Kapamilya Blockbuster's 22.8 share points.
For the same period in Total Urban Luzon, which makes up 77 percent of total television households nationwide, it scored 48.8 points compared to ABS-CBN's 18.7 points while in viewer-rich Mega Manila, which comprises 58 percent of total television households nationwide, it edged out competition with 50.1 share points against competition's 15.7 points.
Ikaw Lang Ang Mamahalin, a remake of one of the network's most memorable primetime dramas in 2001, instantly charmed viewers with its beautiful storyline, excellent actors and high production values and managed to register high viewer ratings even during its pilot week. Headlined by Kapuso Tween Royalties Barbie Forteza, Joshua Dionisio, Joyce Ching and Kristoffer Martin, this version stands out because of the fresh talents and competent acting skills of these personalities.
In National Urban Philippines, Ikaw Lang Ang Mamahalin outranked ABS-CBN's Kapamilya Blockbuster with 39.3 points against competition's 22.8 points. It likewise toppled competition in Urban Luzon with 42.6 points versus rival program's 18.7 points. The drama series continued its success in Mega Manila after it garnered 43.3 share points against 15.7 points of its counterpart program.
Meanwhile, the original afternoon drama, Kung Aagawin Mo Ang Langit, kept audiences hooked on the series from its pilot airing. Bannered by the fresh love triangle of Michelle Madrigal, Mike Tan and Carla Abellena, the intriguing storyline and interesting mix of characters engage viewers with each subsequent episode. Mike's performance as Jonas Alejandro stands out along with his leading ladies' unique portrayals of their respective roles as the ambitious Bridgitte Samonte (Michelle) and the kindhearted Ellery Martinez (Carla).
For the said period in National Urban Philippines, the Kapuso afternoon drama scored 42.6 share points, way ahead of I Dare You's 16.9 and My Fair Lady's 19.6 points. In Urban Luzon, it scored 47.1 points beating ABS-CBN's I Dare You with 13.1 points and My Fair Lady with 19.6 points. In Mega Manila, it posted a household audience share of 47.3 points higher than Kapamilya programs I Dare You with 11.8 points and My Fair Lady with 17.8 points.
