Upcoming Movies from Star Cinema before the 37th edition of the Metro Manila Film Festival

Here’s the list of the upcoming films to be released by Star Cinema (ABS-CBN’s movie arm) before the 37th edition of the Metro Manila Film Festival.


Wedding Tayo, Wedding Hindi (with Octo-Arts Films) – A comedy film starring Wendell Ramos, Zanjoe Marudo, Eugene Domingo and Toni Gonzaga. Directed by Jose Javier Reyes. The movie is set to premiere this August 31, 2011. (Click HERE to watch the trailer)

No Other Woman (with Viva Films) – A sexy romantic-drama film starring ABS-CBN’s hottest stars Derek Ramsay, Cristine Reyes and Anne Curtis.

Private Benjamin (with Viva Films) – Another comedy-film starring Vice Ganda. This is the follow-up movie for him after the box-office hit of his first ever major film last year entitled "Petrang Kabayo". The film will also star Kean Cipriano, Andrew Wolff, Paolo Hubalde and Jimmy Santos.

Piolo Pascual & Angelica Panganiban – “This one is more action, drama, and comedy.” – This is how Piolo Pascual describes his latest movie under Star Cinema together with Angelica Panganiban as her leading lady. Directed by Mae Cruz, the director behind the current Top-Grossing Pinoy Movie for 2011, Catch Me I’m In Love.

Sarah Geronimo & Gerald Anderson – After their first box-office tandem on the big screen, the current leader for being the 2011’s Box Office King and Queen Sarah Geronimo and Gerald Anderson will do another “kilig-movie” this year. Can they achieve or exceed the final box-office receipts of their 1st ever film together? What do you think?

I Honestly Love You (tentatively title) – A light romantic movie to be top billed by Angel Locsin and John Lloyd Cruz under the direction of Ms. Cathy Garcia-Molina. They will be going to start the shooting next week and scheduled to premiere this November.

Indie Movies
 
Thelma - Maja Salvador portrays the role of a runner for the independent-film distributed by Star Cinema titled “Thelma”. Other cast-members of includes Tetchie Agbayani, John Arcilla, Eliza Pineda, Sue Prado, and Jason Abalos. Helmed by Paul Soriano, the film is set to open in theaters nationwide on September 7. Ikaw ang Pag-ibig
– A family-drama film starring Marvin Agustin, Ina Feleo and Jomari Yllana. It is written and directed by Marilou Diaz-Abaya. The film was co-produced by Archdiocese of Caceres, Marilou Diaz Abaya Film Institute & Star Cinema. The movie will be showing in cinemas nationwide on September 14. Basted – Another indie film from Maja Salvador. On this romantic-film, she will be paired with her very close friend, Matteo Guidicelli.

Corazon - An upcoming independent horror film topbilled by Erich Gonzales and Derek Ramsay. To be premiered either last week of October or early of November.

A Mother's Story (produced by ABS-CBN Global and TFC) – A heavy drama indie film starring Kapamilya Host/Comedienne Pokwang in her first ever starring role. “A Mother’s Story” revolves around the character of Pokwang, an illegal immigrant in the US working her way to send money to her children back home. According to the report of ABS-CBN, it will have a limited run in the US this September before it hits Philippine theaters to be distributed by Star Cinema. (Click HERE to watch the trailer)
