2011 Cinemalaya’s Most Awarded Film Entry "Ang Babae Sa Septic Tank" not just only dominates for bagging the major awards at the 7th Cinemalaya Independent Film Festival and Competition but also succeeded in the box-office.
The comedy film top billed by comedy royalty, Eugene Domingo started screening in 43 theaters nationwide last August 3 by Star Cinema (the official distributor). On its opening day, the film was reportedly gross P3 million nationwide based on information provided by the executive producer Atty. Joji Alonso. Due to this achievement, Star Cinema decided to increase the number of theaters from 43 to 50.
On its 1st week, ‘Ang Babae Sa Septic Tank’ earns P14.11 million from 42 theaters gathered by Box Office Mojo Philippines from August 3-7, 2011 (click HERE to see the report). In the latest figures released by BOM Phil. for the period August 10–14, the comedy film has registered a box-office gross of P26.28 million on its 2nd week run based on 35 theaters (click HERE to see the report).
This box-office ticket sales of the said comedy film was really exceptional to the fact it’s not really for a mainstream at all until it has been distributed by Star Cinema in theaters natiowide.
Also starring in the movie are JM de Guzman, Kean Cipriano and Cai Cortez. The film is directed by Marlon Rivera. The comedy film is about misguided ambitions, the art of making art and the romanticization of poverty.
"Ang Babae Sa Septic Tank" was rated A by the Cinema Evaluation Board and rated PG 13 by the Movie and Television Review and Classification Board.
