GMA Network Chairman and CEO Atty. Felipe L. Gozon is the only media mogul who made it to the list of BizNews Asia's (BNA) Tycoons of the Decade Awardees - the Best of the Best Business Icons in the Philippines who made a mark in their respective industries for the past 10 years.

Gozon received the award from Vice President Jejomar Binay and BNA President, Publisher, and Editor-In-Chief Antonio Lopez on the occasion of BNA's 10th anniversary held in Makati recently.

Credited for building the country's largest network, Gozon is widely regarded as the industry pillar who "made broadcasting a multibillion-peso business."

Under his leadership, GMA turned from a cash-strapped station in the 1970's to a profitable multimedia conglomerate that it is now.

Today, GMA is the country's largest television network in terms of audience share. Its entertainment and news and public affairs programs are the most watched by the Filipino audience nationwide.

He is an accomplished lawyer with a Bachelor of Laws degree from UP (1962) and a Master of Laws degree from Yale University (1965). He was an honor student (Phi Kappa Phi, Order of the Purple Father) and placed 13th in the 1962 Bar Examinations.

Gozon was consistently listed among BNA's Power 100 from 2003 to 2010. Last year, he earned the distinction of being the only Filipino to be selected as a member of the Advisory Board for the Asian Television Awards.

Other Tycoons of the Decade Awardees include Ramon Ang, President and COO of San Miguel Corp. and CEO of Petron Corp.; Manuel V. Pangilinan, Chair of PLDT and CEO of Meralco; Henry Sy, Sr., Chair Emeritus of SM Group; Tessie Sy-Coson, Chair of BDO and Vice Chairman of SM Investments, Corp.; Andrew Tan, Chair of Alliance Global Group; Alfonso Yuchengco, Chair of the Yuchengco Group; Zenaida Tantoco, President and CEO of Rustan Commercial Corp.; and Oscar Lopez, Chair Emeritus of First Philippine Holdings.

Founded in 2001 by senior journalist Antonio Lopez, BNA is the Philippines ' largest weekly business and news magazine. In 2008, it hit a pass-on readership of 350,000 in a single issue.
