After nine years of working next to each other, Simon Cowell and Paula Abdul were almost working on top of each other.
"I mean, the truth was, on the first two seasons, we couldn't travel on the same plane together. We really disliked each other that much," Cowell told Barbara Walters, in her Most Fascinating People interview. Simon said that he and Abdul butted heads due to "sexual tension…on her part."
But in recent years, the two have been showing up to red carpet events looking quite cozy. In a few photographs, Simon is even caught checking out Paula’s cleavage...!
Walters then asked Simon if he thought that Abdul wanted a relationship with him.
“A million percent,” Simon replied.
"I considered it, but then I thought, 'I don't think the after would be as good as the before.' I'd let her stay for a few hours, but then it would have to be goodnight," he joked.
Simon in fact admits he’s told all of the above to Paula’s face, and then ends with: “If you’re watching Paula, it’s true.”
Simon Cowell is actually supposed to be engaged to Mezhgan Hussainy, and has been for some time, but Cowell’s mom reportedly prefers her son reconcile with his ex.
According to Simon’s ex girlfriend, Terri Seymour, “There’s no doubt that [Simon’s mom] would love us to get back together but it’s never going to happen.”
She added that she talks to Cowell’s mom nearly every week.
So, what are they waiting for?? It's a pretty weird situation...
